AFFIRMATIONS

I affirm that the humanness of Jesus Christ is the point where mankind finds its most coercive matrix for Redemption.

A human was born in the manger. A human turned water into wine. A human raised the dead to life. A human gave us the sermon on the mount. A human cleansed the Temple. A human died on the cross. After the crucifixion, the human body of Jesus Christ was completely dead.

That human was himself, raised from the dead and remains eternally human. He was seen and recognized many times as a human. He ate human food and conversed with his disciples. That human ascended into heaven as witnessed by more that 100 people.

It was a human about whom an angel said to these witnesses, "This same Jesus, whom you have seen go into heaven shall so come in like manner as you hae seen him go." It is in his humanness that we find the most intimate and the most coercive expression of God's love.

It is noted than in the Resurrection, Jesus was no longer "flesh and blood;" yet he remained in his human form. He has always appeared in human form, even before his incarnation. Biblical scholarship affirms that the "Angel of God" that appears many times in the Hebrew Scriptures, is none other than the pre-incarnate Christ.
