The 23rd Psalm

Like you, and like every true believer on this planet, I sometimes need, I want, I earnestly desire God to comfort me. I live in the same world you do, and it will come as no surprise to you that living sometimes becomes more than challenging. I find the twenty-third Psalm most fitting for this kind of comfort and strength to face these challenges. So, one day in many years past, I turned to this passage, wtitten by King David, for the very best resource to help me face these challenges. As I read, the following words flowed into my mind and heart. It massages the Psalm a bit, so I hope you don't mind. And I earnestly hope it gives you the same it gave to me. -- PDM

The Lord is my shepherd
He knows what I want.

He makes me relax
And enjoy His world around me.
He makes me appreciate the deep
Dimensions of my life.

He heals the rawness
Of my mind.
And makes me driven
To do the right thing
Because He has an investment
In my life that He wishes to protect.

I’m not afraid
No matter how extreme the crisis,
Or how strong the force of Evil.
For He is at my side,
Feeling it with me.
His power to protect me is absolute
So why should I worry?

You give me a feast
Right where my enemies can see it.
You let them know
That I am special to you.

I never had it so good
And this is only the beginning
It’s going to be this way
For the rest of my life on earth
Then I will be with you, Father
Because a Father and His child
Ought to be together

Always.
